May 3, 2022; USCIS has announced a Temporary Final Rule that grants Automatic Extension of Employment Authorization Documents (EADs) for Certain Renewal Applicants! The extension will be effective on May 4, 2022; increasing the 180 day extension to 540 days. This provides more certainty for businesses in retaining workers.
How should your business respond?
Identify who is eligible by looking at the categories on USCIS site
Understand the I-9 process and calendar expirations
Follow up with workers for ongoing employment authorization, which may include using this Auto-extension rule requiring them to provide evidence of pending EAD for extension of same classification (receipt notice).
